Oil Changes
One of the most basic, but essential, services we provide is oil changes. The oil in a diesel engine plays a critical role in keeping the engine lubricated and cool. It also helps to remove contaminants and debris that can accumulate in the engine over time. As the oil becomes dirty and contaminated, it loses its ability to lubricate and cool the engine properly. This can lead to increased wear and tear, and even engine failure.
Why Regular Oil Changes are Important
Regular oil changes are essential to keep a diesel engine running smoothly. The recommended interval for oil changes varies depending on the type of truck and the type of oil being used. It is generally recommended to change the oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles or every six months, whichever comes first. At AM PM Diesel Services, we use high-quality synthetic oil that is specially formulated for diesel engines. This type of oil is designed to withstand the high temperatures and heavy loads that diesel engines are subjected to.
Fluid Services
In addition to oil changes, we also provide a wide range of fluid services for diesel trucks. These services are designed to keep all of the fluid systems in the truck in top condition. This includes the transmission, power steering, and transfer case.
Transmission Fluid
Transmission fluid is essential for the proper operation of the transmission. It acts as a lubricant, a coolant, and a hydraulic fluid. It helps to keep the gears and other moving parts of the transmission lubricated, while also helping to dissipate heat. Over time, transmission fluid can become dirty and contaminated, which can lead to increased wear and tear on the transmission. We recommend that transmission fluid be changed every 25,000 miles.
Power Steering Fluid
Power steering fluid is used to power the power steering system. It is a hydraulic fluid that helps to make steering the truck easier. Power steering fluid can become dirty and contaminated over time, which can lead to problems with the power steering system. We recommend that the power steering fluid be changed every 50,000 miles.
Transfer Case Fluid
Attached to the transmission, the transfer case is what allows your truck to switch between different drivemodes. Subsequently, the transfer case fluid is what allows for that switch to go so smoothly. It provides both lubrication and cooling to the moving parts within the case but can lose lubrication over time or become contaminated. This can result in the case and its parts overheating, which will prevent you from shifting drive modes. We recommend having the transfer case fluid changed every 60,000 miles.
